Edwina Ribbon Corset

Edwina Ribbon Corset

$264.00

This short Edwardian style underbust ribbon corset looks like armor, but is made of strips of ribbon and not much else. Boning is limited to center front, center back, and the vertical side panels. This leads to a beautiful curvy shape and more flexibility than coutil offers.

History

This style of corset was popularized in the Edwardian era for a more flexible and lightweight fit. They were prized for summer wear and athletic wear. Though originally marketed as only for slender figures, we have tested this on all sizes.

Fit

These corsets are designed to be worn closed, and look best with a very small or no gap. A V or /\ shaped gap is fine, but choose the smaller size between your upper hip and rib if your measurements match two different sizes.

To measure, place the tape measure around the ribcage where a bra band would sit, and make sure it’s parallel to the floor. The aim is flush, not tight. For the upper hip, measure parallel to the floor about 2” below your bellybutton.

For those well versed in corset terms, the rib spring is 6” and the hip spring is 10”. It visually looks curvier due to the length and construction.

I find these fit best with a fluffy skirt. Do not pull the horizontal ribbons to adjust where the corset sits, only the vertical reinforced parts.

Model is wearing a size 28
